You can purchase additional accidental death and dismemberment (AD&D) coverage under GW’s group policy through The Standard in the EasyEnroll system. You have the option to purchase:

  • Additional AD&D Insurance coverage for yourself in increments of $10,000, up to a maximum of $750,000 or five times your annual benefit salary (whichever is less). You may purchase AD&D coverage for yourself regardless of whether you purchase Life coverage.
  • Additional AD&D Insurance coverage for your spouse or domestic partner in increments of $5,000, up to a maximum of $375,000 or 50 percent of your coverage (whichever is less). Please note that you must have additional employee AD&D coverage to elect coverage for your spouse or domestic partner.
  • Additional AD&D Insurance coverage for your dependent children in increments of $2,000. Coverage for children is limited to a maximum of $10,000 or 50 percent of your coverage (whichever is less) for older dependent children. Please note that you must have additional employee AD&D coverage to elect coverage for your dependent children.

Beneficiary Information

Updating your beneficiary is very important. Your beneficiary is who you would like your AD&D insurance benefit to go to in the event of your passing. You can update your beneficiary information anytime during the year using the EasyEnroll System.

Additional AD&D insurance benefits are paid to your beneficiary(ies) if you die as the direct result of a covered accident that occurs while coverage is in effect.

Dependent AD&D insurance benefits are paid to you if your covered dependent dies as the direct result of a covered accident that occurs while coverage is in effect.

Additional AD&D insurance benefits are also available if you or a covered dependent suffer certain severe injuries as the direct result of a covered accident that occurs while coverage is in effect. Such benefits are often expressed as a percentage of the total death benefit payable, depending on the severity and number of injuries sustained.
