Lactation Rooms

GW offers several lactation rooms which provide new mothers with private, secure spaces to express their breast milk. Unless otherwise noted, the spaces listed below are open to all GW community members on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Foggy Bottom Campus

Marvin Center, 2nd Floor Marvin Center, 2nd Floor. Dedicated space available to all GW community members, 7 days a week, 7 a.m. - midnight.
Old Main, Room 404Q Old Main, 1922 F Street, NW, Room #206 (on F Street entrance level). Dedicated space available to all GW community members, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Milken Institute School of Public Health - B1 Milken Institute School of Public Health - B1. Dedicated space available to all GW community members, 7 days a week, 7a.m. - midnight. Room is located to the left of the elevators, and includes a sink and changing table. GWid is required to enter the building.
Support Building, 1st Floor Support Building, 1st Floor. Dedicated space available to all GW community members, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Room includes sink, refrigerator and microwave.
2175 K Street, Suite 500 2175 K Street, Suite 500. Dedicated space available to all GW community members, Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. To access room, please request a key from the front desk assistant in the suite.
nursing mother icon Jacob Burns Law Library (non-dedicated). Available to faculty, staff, and students of the GW Law School with access to the Jacob Burns Law Library. Please request a checkout key from the Circulation Desk on an as-needed basis, or contact the Dean of Students Office at (202) 994-8320 for information on how to obtain a room key. Room includes refrigerator, microwave and equipment storage space.

Ross Hall (two locations)

Himmelfarb Library (non-dedicated). Available to faculty, staff and students of the GW School of Medicine, School of Nursing and School of Public Health & Health Sciences who have access to the Himmelfarb Library. Room is located off of the B1 level ladies room.

Virginia Science & Technology Campus

Enterprise Hall, Room 393 Enterprise Hall, Room 393. Dedicated space available to all GW community members. If room is locked, please contact the Enterprise Hall security guard on the ground level lobby.
Research Place, Room 240AN Research Place, Room 240AN. Dedicated space available to all GW community members, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.

Breastfeeding Resources

GW New Parent Support: Whether you are preparing for the birth of your child or have already welcomed your new baby home, GW is committed to providing programs and resources that can support you at every stage.

Employees Guide to Breastfeeding and Working: Developed by the Department of Health & Human Services, this seven-page booklet provides you with the basics for successfully continuing to breastfeed after returning to work.

The Breastfeeding Center for Greater Washington: The Center is located just off the Foggy Bottom campus at 2141 K Street NW.  Staff at the Center are committed to optimizing the breastfeeding experience from the start. Supportive classes emphasize healthy and normal breastfeeding variations, with respect and understanding of the unique family.
